My Story
I grew up not knowing anything about Jesus except that He was the God I would pray to at night just in case He did exist and I died. It wasn’t until I was 17, that Jesus redeemed me and made me a Christian. It was at that point Jesus became very real to me. He became the Savior and Lord of my life. Prior to that, I spent most of my life chasing the lies of our society looking for fulfillment, meaning, and direction in life. It’s those same lies I have an ambition of preaching and challenging people to stop chasing after and pursue a life of total surrender to Jesus.
My Family
I have a beautiful wife, Brittany, who I’ve been married to for over two years. I have been so blessed to have her prayers, support and encouragement. She is my biggest supporter and makes me proud to be called her husband.
On October 7th, 2009 we welcomed our first son into the family. His name is Boyd Whittaker Bettis, but he is known by his middle name. We like to call him Whittaker or Whit, please don’t call him Whitty…that’s not cool. He is our pride and joy, we love spending time with him and watching him grow!
This September we will welcome our second child into the family!
My Passion
My passion in life is to preach the gospel to every man and woman I possibly can. I my time preparing to preach the Bible and lead Jacksonville City Church. I want to be used by God to speak truth and life into people that will bring them to a closer walk with Jesus. It’s my commitment to study the Bible and to preach it faithfully and accurately in a way that allows the Holy Spirit to change the hearts of the hears, and to bring about a generation of people committed to Jesus.
